OUR FEDERATION-WIDE ONE-MINUTE SPEECH 

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

For a parent with a blind child, someone who has just lost their sight or for those unfamiliar with the works of the NFB, To hear these words may mean very little until one has the opportunity to really experience one of these NFB events where the power of learning that, they too, can live a full, productive and independent life.
