I would love to mention how grateful I am of the Kenneth Jernigan Scholarship I received to attend my first NFB National Convention that was a very compassionate gift.
I am also appreciative to have traveled with The Alabama Freedom Center for the Blind and how they took me under their wing for that week in Vegas.
Attending my first NFB convention was exhilarating, challenging and very beneficial. I was exhilarated by being in the midst of 3200 people I could relate with. I was encouraged by their stories of inspiration. The challenge gave me confidence that I could accomplish bigger things with believing in myself. I appreciated practicing my mobility skills by traveling around the convention center making extremely long trips, and having to remember indicators when traveling. The convention was beneficial in my obtaining confidence, gaining knowledge, and giving me hope of a bright future.
