Educational and Social Outings

Fort Yargo State Park – Camp Will-A-Wa

Chapter Members joined Park Ranger and a member from the Audubon Society for an exciting and educational bird hike.  Our adventure began as we met at the beginning of the Birdberry Trail behind the Nature Center. We hiked along the paved Birdberry Trail (2 miles) and learned to identify various birds on the basis of their calls.  We had an opportunity to use our braille skills with the thirty signs available with text and Braille that teach about native flora and fauna, such as deer, rabbits, raccoons and loblolly pine.  Then we enjoyed grilled hot dogs donated and prepared by members of the Guillebeau Family who also arranged this activity.  Thanks to the Guillebeau Family, Anthony Welch – Park Ranger and the Audubon Society.
